Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Damn You Glassberg and MOTB! Today in 1979 (thank you moderators)

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1979-05-13.nak700.glassberg.motb.87854.sbeok.flac16

Bastards did it again. This one has that crispy clear sound typical of the MOTB releases, with perhaps a touch too much crowd noise, but by no means distracting.
Boys seemed to always play solid shows in Maine and this one does not deviate from that record. Seems like a good way to get the day going right. Solid set list typical of 79:

1 Tuning 00:35
2 Sugaree 15:21
3 'Take A Step Back' 01:45
4 Mama Tried > 02:31
5 Mexicali Blues 04:39
6 Jack-A-Roe 05:22
7 It's All Over Now 09:33
8 Candyman 08:00
9 El Paso 04:49
10 Row Jimmy 11:13
11 Jack Straw 06:44
12 Tuning 01:05
13 Scarlet Begonias > 12:13
14 Fire On The Mountain 11:26
15 Estimated Prophet > 12:02
16 He's Gone > 11:09
17 Truckin' > 08:14
18 Nobody's Fault Jam > 01:18
19 Truckin' > 01:45
20 Space > 07:12
21 Dru // ms > 01:34
22 Space > 03:24
23 Wharf Rat > 10:21
24 Around and Around 09:05
25 U.S. Blues 05:43

And the "new" guy whips out a solo on All Over Now that shows his confidence growing while establishing his niche with the boys.

The Jack Straw set closer is played at a much slower tempo than usual, but still builds to a rousing crescendo. I happen to like it, although some reviewers in other sources aren't of the same opinion.

Sweet, sweet Scarlet transition jam. Damn.

Fire is indeed smoking. Wow, nice ending. Way to go, Jerry.

So far it's an easy 4 - 4.5 star show.

screw you, handbag marketing spamming motherless pig-boinking pole-munching (not that there's anything wrong with that) commie.

Disregard the above comment as the offending posts have since been removed by the powers that be.

OK, no more edits. Don't want to jump over posts.

This Estimated transition jam is just magical. My chair is perfectly safe as I am now hovering about 2 feet above it. This is now a definite 4.5 star show and still advancing.

Truckin>Nobody's Fault Jam>Truckin>Space Jam is about as good as it gets. Sweet as honey and smooth as 18 year old Glenlivet.

Not a show if you're looking for a raging beast, but it's perfect if you're just wanting to kick back and drift.
